St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, NY is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our care team.

You will assess and manage patients' respiratory needs under physician orders, deliver treatments, monitor ventilated patients, and document care in the medical record. The ideal candidate holds an AAS in Respiratory Therapy and a NY license, with strong teamwork and precise documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program with a minimum of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
• Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license required.
• Knowledge of mechanical ventilation, blood gas analyzers, respiratory treatment delivery systems, and related medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care and support to patients in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
• Operate and monitor mechanical ventilators and other respiratory support equipment.
• Administer prescribed respiratory treatments using appropriate delivery methods and equipment.
• Perform blood gas testing and operate blood gas analyzers in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in patient medical records and departmental logs.
• Utilize the hospital information system to document care and access relevant patient information.
• Ensure respiratory care equipment is used appropriately and safely.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.

Working under physician orders, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing and managing patients’ respiratory support needs, administering prescribed respiratory treatments, performing blood gas testing, and ensuring accurate and thorough clinical documentation. Salary Range
