Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist for a PRN role. You will assist with patient care, deliver routine therapy, respond to codes, assess and treat patients, monitor conditions, educate families, and manage respiratory supplies.

The position offers growth in a supportive, wellness-focused environment. Requires CRP with BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting, and adherence to HIPAA and policy

Qualifications

• Licenses: Certified Respiratory Therapist
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS and PALS with timing requirements.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must work well in stressful environments and take appropriate action.
• Access to and/or handles sensitive information.
• Understand healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
• Follows policies and procedures and understands Business Office Standards and Practices.

• Reports to: Respiratory Market Director
• Assists respiratory therapists with preparing for and providing patient care
• Delivers routine therapy as delegated by a therapist
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance
• Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition
• Educates patient and family about illness and community resources
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment
• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes equipment and performs preventive maintenance and calibration of machines

Qualifications and requirements:

• Licenses: Certified Respiratory Therapist

• Certifications: (BLS) Basic Life Support required one month from hire/transfer date; (ACLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support six months from hire/transfer date; (PALS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support six months from hire/transfer date

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

• Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.

• Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).

• Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
