Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program is required.
• Texas license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical competencies to provide respiratory therapy.
• Provides respiratory care to adult/geriatric populations.
• Provides care to neonatal/pediatric patients.
• Collects and evaluates clinical information from patient records, blood gases, and labs.
• Reviews x-ray and radiology reports and discusses care with physicians.
• Explains and monitors patient responses to therapy.
• Performs respiratory therapy procedures as appropriate and documents them.
• Checks and inspects equipment for proper function and quality control.
• Maintains communication of patient information with the healthcare team.
• Participates in clinical instruction of allied health students.
