Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to oversee diagnosis, treatment, and care management of pulmonary disorders. The role involves testing techniques to assist physicians, determining therapy needs, and ensuring safe patient care.

Responsibilities include airway management, ventilator support, inhaled medications, patient education, and performing ABG, EKGs, and PFTs.

Qualificações

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care is required.
• RRT credential from NBRC is required.
• BLS and ACLS certification are required.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner license is required.

Responsabilidades

• Attend code blue and rapid response to assist airway management.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document history for sleep problems.
• Set up and operate mechanical ventilators for neonatal to adult patients.
• Deliver inhaled medications including SABA, LABA, LAMA and others.
• Conduct lung expansion and airway clearance therapies as prescribed.
• Educate patients and caregivers on conditions and self-management techniques.
• Perform EKGs, ABG tests, PFTs and assist physicians during procedures.
• Maintain and disinfect Respiratory Therapy equipment as required.
• Evaluate patient response to therapy and adjust plans accordingly.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders. This position uses a variety of testing techniques to assist doctors in diagnosing disorders and determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians’ orders.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Emergency Response-Attends code blue and rapid response team activation to perform or assist with airway management.
• Patient Assessment-Performs thorough patient assessments, obtains patient history, and elicits an accurate description of sleep problems in order to diagnose and treat patients with science-based medicine.
• Ventilation-Sets up and operates mechanical ventilators using invasive or non-invasive procedures on patients ranging from neonatal to adult. Administers high frequency jet ventilation (HFJV), high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), and conventional methods to deliver nitric oxide to patients.
• Oxygenation-Delivers supplemental oxygen therapy, ensuring proper selection of the delivery device, to ensure adequate patient oxygenation.
• Inhaled Medications-Administers inhaled medications to patients, such as SABA, LABA, LAMA, ics, antibiotics, and other prescribed inhaled medications.
• Lung Expansion & Airway Clearance–Therapies-Performs incentive spirometry, PEP, & Flutter therapies on patients to facilitate airway clearance and lung expansion.
• Patient Education-Educates patients and their caregivers about their conditions and teaches appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises or the use of medications or respiratory equipment.
• Special Procedures-Conducts special procedures including electrocardiograms (EKGs), arterial blood gas tests (ABG), pulmonary function tests and surfactant delivery. Assists physicians during caesarean section births, high-risk deliveries, and patient transport.
• Machine Maintenance-Ensures proper functioning and appropriate utilization of Respiratory Therapy equipment in use by patients. Assists in disassembling, cleaning, disinfecting, reassembling and storing of equipment.
• Treatment Plans-Evaluates patients’ response to therapy and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required Associate’s Degree Resp Care
• Required High School Diploma/GED
• Required Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - State Licensing Board Respiratory Care Practitioner license
