Job summary

The Respiratory Therapist role at Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is a casual, as-needed position with 12-hour shifts (days and nights). Qualifications

• NBRC certification; will become registered within 12 months.
• Current BLS certification.
• Interacts well with others; good communication skills.
• Current license by the State of Minnesota as an RT.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP certified within three months of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to follow Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, mission and values.
• Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Perform and monitor all respiratory therapy procedures as ordered by the physicians.
• Assess patient conditions and communicate those conditions with the physician.
• Accurately document therapy and its effects in the patient's medical record.
• Respond to all "Code Blue" calls.
• Maintain patient airways and ventilation.
• Set up and monitor all ventilator/BiPAP patients and communicate with medical/nursing staff in regard to the patient's care.
• Perform Pulmonary Function Testing as ordered by the physician.
• Administer pulmonary consults to all patients.
• Assists with patient education, staff education, and special projects.
