Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center seeks a Respiratory Therapist to assess patients and develop care plans based on diagnoses. You will monitor patient status, administer advanced respiratory treatments, and document outcomes while educating patients and families about illness and community resources.

This role requires critical thinking and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-stress environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided for validation.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Educate the patient and family about the illness and provide information about community support groups and programs.
• Communicate with the care team and participate in care planning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Educates the patient and family about the illness and provides information about community support groups and other available programs. Other duties as assigned. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Qualification

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Graduate of approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided for validation.

Required Length And Type Of Experience

• Prior experience in critical care preferred.
• Neonatal/pediatric experience preferred.
• Prior experience performing invasive procedures preferred.

Required Licensure Or Certification

• Registered (RRT) or Certified (CRT) Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association required.

Required Physical And Environmental Demands

• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
• May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
