Job summary

HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to guide patients through routine care and critical moments, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing ventilation across care settings. You will have access to advanced respiratory technology and mentorship from RT leaders, with a collaborative team supporting ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Associate Degree required.
• NBRC-RRT or equivalent licensed RT must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status and perform focused exams with interpretation of breath sounds.
• Deliver oxygen, aerosols and airway clearance therapies across care settings.
• Assist with artificial airways, initiate and monitor ventilation, respond to changes.
• Educate patients and families, collaborate with physicians and nurses, support newborns when needed.
• Set up, operate and maintain respiratory equipment following infection prevention standards.

Your role will include:

• Assessing respiratory statusby performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, anddeterminingthe need for respiratory interventions.
• Deliveringevidence-based therapyby providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airwaysbyassistingwith artificial airway placement,initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation,monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care teamby educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintainingequipment and safetyby setting up,operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Associate Degree
• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
