Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide patient care across neonatal to geriatric ages in Southeast Alaska. The role includes administering therapies, conducting pulmonary function testing, interpreting ABGs, and educating patients on respiratory care.

Qualifications include graduation from an approved respiratory therapy program, NBRC credentials, state license, and BLS; ACLS/PALS are required within 3 months. Travel up to 25% may be involved.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved respiratory therapy program and be NBRC-certified.
• Credentialed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• State Respiratory Therapy license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• ACLS & PALS certification is required within 3 months of hire.
• Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency must be met within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assess, administer, and evaluate respiratory therapy treatments and pulmonary function tests.
• Interpret arterial blood gases and manage airway and ventilatory support for neonates to adults.
• Instruct patients on respiratory devices and therapies.
• Maintain and disinfect equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range:$36.46 - $51.29Provides respiratory therapy modalities per protocol and those ordered by physicians to improve the cardiopulmonary conditions of patients from neonatal to geriatric ages.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

• Participates in the assessment, administration, and evaluation of respiratory therapy treatments, pulmonary function testing, performs extubations, airway management and ventilatory life support to critical adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Participates with other health care professionals in obtaining, interpreting and evaluating pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, airway management and respiratory treatments
• Provides instruction to patients in the use of respiratory therapy equipment, inhalation gases and other therapies related to the treatment of respiratory diseases and/or the promotion of respiratory wellness

Other Functions

• Responsible for the cleaning, care and maintenance of all equipment used in the delivery of respiratory treatments and pulmonary function testing

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Credentialed by the NBRC as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist at time of hire.
• Respiratory Therapy license from any state
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support
• ACLS & PALS required within 3 months of hire
• Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year

Experience Required

• Two years' experience as a certified Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Knowledge of

• Respiratory care modalities for adults, pediatrics, and neonatal patients

Skills in

• Use of mechanical ventilators skillfully and offers alternative solutions; cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Ability to

• Accurately interpret arterial blood gases; use of mechanical ventilators; work alone/unsupervised
• Work under adverse conditions such as communicable infectious diseases

Travel Required

Up to 25% travel expected.
