Job summary

International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. seeks a Respiratory Therapist to support disaster response in Sarasota County, FL. The role requires readiness to respond within 24 hours and establish care within 72 hours, with on-site deployment until mission conclusion.

The clinician will provide high‑quality respiratory care, performing routine and complex procedures using a wide range of techniques and equipment, and collaborate with the care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by CoARC located in Florida.
  • Minimum one year of professional RT experience in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or NBRC-certified CRT credential, or NBRC‑equivalent acceptable to NBRC.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all skills and knowledge to provide safe, effective, developmentally appropriate respiratory care.
  • Plan respiratory care needs with care team to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes.
  • Safely perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to standards and policies.
  • Interpret and communicate patient results to support patient care.
  • Document interventions and responses in the EMR for compliant documentation.
  • Explain therapies to patients and families to ensure collaborative care.

Job Description

This position is in support of theCounty of Sarasota Florida toprovide care for those with special needs who are displacedin the event ofa largescale disaster.This position requires the individual to be able to respond to a disaster with in 24 hours of notice andtoestablishcare with in 72 hours of notification.This isapost disastermissionand will require the individual to be onsite until conclusion of the operation.

The RespiratoryTherapistisrequiredtoprovide quality respiratory care to our patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable formaintainingall skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe,effectiveand developmentallyappropriate respiratorycare to all patients.
  • Plans for patient’s respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomesSafely performs various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, proceduralguidelinesand policies to provide safe patient care.
  • Accurately and reliably interprets and communicates patient results to support patient care.
  • Documents interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation.
  • Interacts with and explains therapeutic modalities to patients, families and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

RequiredLicenses/ Certifications:

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)orcurrent Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)oran equivalent credential acceptable to the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Current and validdriver'slicense.

RequiredKnowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

  • Understanding of “Special Notes” populations (Preferred).
  • Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records,web-basedtrainingand communications.
  • Knowledge of, and moderateproficiencyin, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel,Outlookand SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act)regardingthe confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.

Duty Hours / On-CallRequirements:

  • Thisan upon notification position.
  • Shifts will be 12 hours a dayuntil complete.
  • Will have on call responsibilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above.
  • Ability to work in an austere environment exposure to heat and weather.
  • Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle on behalf of the company.
