Job summary

University Health is seeking a Staff Therapist Level I to provide the full range of respiratory care to adult patient populations, following physician directives and department policy.

The role requires an Associate’s degree with NBRC credentials and Texas RCP licensure, BLS certification, and willingness to obtain RRT within one year; ACLS is preferred and BLS instructor certifications may substitute.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree with NBRC RRT/CRT and commitment to obtain RRT within 1 year.
• Active Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license with the Texas Medical Board.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• BLS instructor certifications may substitute for BLS.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of respiratory care to adult patients.
• Perform duties per physician directives and department policies.
• Maintain good public and working relations in the unit.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Therapist level I p rovides full range of respiratory care to Adult patient populations as evidenced by the skill/competency assessment.Ensures the prompt and proficient provisions of respiratory related duties in accordance with physician directives.Complies with departmental and University Health System's policies and procedures and maintains good public and working relations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree with a current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) with the commitment to obtain RRT within one year for the start of employment and an active Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license with the Texas Medical Board required.

Must be BLS certified.ACLS Preferred. Instructor certifications for BLS is acceptable in lieu of BLS.
