Job summary

Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an established team delivering specialized cardiopulmonary care. You will manage therapies from nebulizers to ventilator support and oxygen therapy, applying assessment skills and critical thinking in routine and emergent situations.

Required are graduation from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program, AZ RCP license, and BLS. Preferred NRP; SJHMC is part of the CommonSpirit Health network.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy based on patient age and physical abilities.
• Make recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy.
• Educate patients and arrange home respiratory care services and follow-up assessments.
• Participate in department meetings and continuing education programs.
• Maintain established department policies, procedures and objectives, including quality assurance and infection control.

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, unwavering calm under pressure, and the ability to anticipate outcomes. Your dedication to patient well-being and exceptional problem-solving abilities will drive success in this vital role.

• Assess and evaluate of the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy based on patient’s age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs
• Make recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapy
• Educates patients and arranges home respiratory care services and patient therapy follow-up assessments using language and materials appropriate for age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs
• Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control
