Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, NY is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist to join night shifts. Under supervision of a licensed physician, you will monitor and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disease and provide critical respiratory therapies.

Responsibilities include arterial blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, ventilator management, bron cholial hygiene, and administering inhaled medications while collaborating with physicians to adjust care plans.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA Accredited School for Respiratory Care.
• Bachelor of Science preferred.
• Current registration in New York State as Respiratory Therapist; Diploma and Licensure required.
• BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and treat patients with cardiopulmonary and respiratory disease.
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis sampling and analysis; pulmonary function testing.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and modify patient care plans.
• Set up and monitor therapeutic gases; administer inhaled medications.
• Perform bronchial hygiene therapy and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation; manage breathing apparatus and ventilators.
• Insert and maintain artificial airway; administer CPR as needed.

Respiratory Therapists assume primary responsibility for respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures. Diagnostic concerns include but are not limited to: arterial blood gas analysis sampling and analysis, physical assessment and pulmonary function testing. Respiratory therapists consult with physicians and other healthcare staff to help develop and modify patient care plans.
