Job summary

MSC in Maumee, OH is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess patients, select equipment, and educate on oxygen therapy. You will liaise with physicians, families, and care teams, ensuring adherence to policies.

Requires current Respiratory Therapist license and NBRC credentials; willing to obtain additional licensure as needed. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Documents orders for respiratory equipment and services from referrals, physicians, customers, or caregivers.
• Assesses customer needs and selects appropriate equipment/services with input from customer/family.
• Acts as liaison between company, customer, family, caregiver, and health-care staff.
• Instructs customers on proper use/ care of equipment and educates on oxygen therapy to improve compliance with physician orders.
• Communicates with physician about changes in condition and adjusts Plan of Care/Treatment as needed.
• Completes paperwork including Plan of Care/Treatment, equipment contacts, assessments, and discharge plans.

Reports To: Director or HUB Manager

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Documents the order for respiratory equipment and/or services from the referral source, physician, customer, family member, or caregiver. Collects additional information and/or authorization if referral is from other than the physician.
• Assesses the need of the customer and the best choice of equipment and/or services to meet those needs, involving the customer, family, and/or caregiver in the selection process.
• Acts as a liaison between the company and the customer, family, caregiver, physician and other health care agencies and staff on the case.
• Instructs customer in the proper use and care of the equipment according to the written policies and procedures for that equipment. Educates oxygen patients on their disease process and purpose/benefit of oxygen therapy as part of their treatment to help improve compliance to physician orders.
• Communicates with the customer’s physician on changes in the customer’s condition and/or needs and carries out adjustment to the customer’s Plan of Care/Treatment.
• Completes customer accounts paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment, Equipment Contact forms and assessments, and discharge plans for respiratory customers as needed per policy.

Proof of a current Respiratory Therapist license, in good standing, in the State local to the requisition.

Must hold and maintain current NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) credential(s) as required for the position.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Physical Requirements:

• Have a willingness to obtain additional state licensure as requested.
• Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field.
• Ability to understand respiratory implications of industry change.
• Excellent communication (orally and in writing), telephone and customer relation skills.
• Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills (a team player).
• Normal office/clerical motor skills in addition to extensive computer and telephone usage
