Job summary

Encino Hospital Medical Center, part of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner I to join an award-winning team. This per diem role supports the medical director and cardiopulmonary services, performing respiratory therapies and diagnostic procedures under physician orders.

The position emphasizes patient assessment, planning and documentation, with leadership responsibilities during shifts when the supervisor is away. California licensure and NBRC CRT are required.

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from NBRC required. Hired before March 2026, exempt.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC upon hire and current.
• ACLS certification within 60 days of hire and current.
• PALS certification within 60 days of hire and current.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma required.
• Two years of acute care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapies and pulmonary diagnostics as ordered by physician.
• Focus on assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care considering age groups.
• As Lead RCP, may supervise section/department during shift in absence of supervisor.

Responsibilities

Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director/manager, the RCP I is responsible for performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. Emphasis will be toward the assessment, planning, implementation and documentation of care, with consideration of age and population specific needs and requirements of the patient. In the absence of a supervisor, may be assigned/identified as Lead RCP, having responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Hired before March 2026,are exempt
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification within 60 days of hire and maintain current.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification within 60 days of hire and maintain current.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two (2) years of acute care experience required.

Pay Transparency

Encino Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation and the current compensation range for this role is $34.69 to $60.07. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
