Job summary

Marlora Post Acute Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for weekend coverage in Long Beach, CA. The RT will operate respiratory care equipment, monitor ventilation during emergencies, and support residents with a focus on comfort and safety.

Requirements include an active CA Respiratory Care License, BLS, and experience with technology-dependent patients. Spanish language ability is a plus. Weekend shifts are Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Experience in respiratory therapy and care for technology-dependent residents.
• Knowledge of OBRA and Title XXII LTC guidelines.
• Spanish language ability is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment in the sub-acute unit.
• Explain treatment procedures to residents to ensure comfort and understanding.
• Perform chest physiotherapy including percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning.
• Monitor ventilation during CPR and other emergencies.
• Record treatment information and resident responses in records.
• Assist residents with transfers and communicate updates to relief personnel.

Respiratory Therapist (Weekend) - Long Beach, CA

At Marlora Post Acute Rehabilitation Hospital, our talented and focused staff will work with you, your family, and your healthcare provider, to create a comprehensive and effective care and treatment plan.

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our weekend team! As a certified/registered Respiratory Therapist (RT), you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our residents. Your weekend availability is essential in supporting our sub-acute care unit, ensuring that our residents receive the best possible care and treatment.

Responsibilities:

• Sets up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness in the sub-acute unit.
• Complies with facility attendance policy requiring regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
• Explains treatment procedures to residents, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
• Performs chest physical therapy treatments, including percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning.
• Monitors and maintains ventilation during cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
• Records treatment information and resident responses on respiratory care records and resident charts.
• Assists residents with uncomplicated transfers and reports to relief personnel, condition of residents and treatments to be administered.

Requirements:

• Certified/Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT) with a current, verifiable Respiratory Care License in the State of California.
• Successful completion of facility ventilator class.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Previous clinical experience in respiratory therapy and caring for patients with technology dependency (Medi-Cal requirement).
• Knowledge of OBRA and Title XXII guidelines for LTC.
• Ability to speak Spanish or any other non-English language helpful but not required.
• Must be aware of and understand the needs of the residents.

Schedule:

• Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

PAY RATE: $45-$50/hour
