Job summary

WellSpan Health in Lebanon, PA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to administer and coordinate respiratory care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The role requires a base practitioner level with rotation including every third weekend and holidays, and involves direct patient care across the life span in a busy hospital setting.

You will assess, plan, implement and adjust therapies in collaboration with physicians, ensuring safety, quality care and compliance with clinical pathways.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or post high school certificate program in respiratory therapy.
• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Active licensure as Respiratory Therapist (RRT/NBRC) and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Administers respiratory therapy modalities per physician guidelines and documents treatment, response and progress.
• Performs patient assessment and develops a comprehensive pulmonary care plan.
• Modifies therapy to maximize efficacy of the regimen.
• Collaborates with the physician to manage initiation, maintenance and weaning of ventilatory support.
• Maintains communication with the patient regarding progress, home programs and issues related to therapy.
• Maintains safety, infection control and compliance with policies and procedures.

Job Description Department: Respiratory Therapy Schedule Full Time, Day Shift (72 hours biweekly) Rotation: Every third weekend with holiday rotation requirements General Summary Performs respiratory care modalities according to established standards and practices at the base practitioner level. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities Essential Functions:

• Administers respiratory therapy modalities as per the physician, clinical practice guidelines and/or clinical pathway. Charts treatment, response and progress.
• Performs patient assessment and develops a comprehensive pulmonary care plan.
• Modifies therapy to maximize efficacy of the therapy regimen.
• Collaborates with the physician to manage the initiation, maintenance and weaning of patients requiring ventilatory support.
• Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
• Provides quality care consistent with appropriate policies and procedures, quality assessment program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Common Expectations

• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
• Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education

• Associates Degree Required or
• Certificate Program Certificate Program Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Required

Work Experience

• Less than 1 year Relevant experience. Required

Licenses

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist Upon Hire Required and
• Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC Upon Hire Required and
• Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses And Training
