Job summary

UF Health in Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide direct patient care across the cardiopulmonary spectrum, under supervision of medical leadership, following physician orders and approved protocols.

You will administer respiratory care, monitor responses, assist with emergencies including CPR and intubations, educate patients and families, and support disease management through patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited associate's degree respiratory therapy program.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Director, the Respiratory Therapist performs direct patient care to patients in all aspects of respiratory care according to the physicians orders/approved protocols, with consideration given to the age of the patient. The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system.

Clinical Work Includes

• Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation
• Emergency care
• Assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations
• Monitoring physiological responses to therapy
• Educating patients and their families about their conditions
• Teaching appropriate disease management techniques

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of accredited associate's degree respiratory program.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation

Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
