JOBSUMMARY:

Theprimary purpose of the Registered Respiratory Therapist position is to performcritical and non-critical respiratory care procedures and/or diagnosticprocedures through physician directives.

JOB DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Possessan in-depth knowledge of cardiopulmonary patho-physiology and clinicalapplications of respiratory care principles essential to allow employee toassist the physician in assessing the efficacy or therapy and devising aneffective therapy care plan.
  • Effectivecommunication skills in dealing with patients of all ages, staff members andphysicians.
  • Numericalability to evaluate statistical data and make various computations.
  • Clericalability to read reports and utilize data accurately.
  • Abilityto follow various respiratory care and to recognize possible hazards and toxiceffects of gases and therapy.
  • Abilityto plan and organize work in an efficient manner.
JOBREQUIREMENTS:
Education
  • Certificateof completion from an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program and Registeredby the AARC.
Experience
  • Twoyears or more.
  • Licensedby the state in which you work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
SpecificRequirements
  • Mustbe able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Mustpossess the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Mustpossess the ability to deal tactfully with associates, residents, familymembers, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Musthave advanced training in long-term care administration.
  • Mustbe proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Windowsapplications.
  • Musthave general knowledge of computer systems, electronic medical records
  • Mustbe knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices andprocedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining tolong-term care administration.
  • Mustpossess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise others.
  • Mustpossess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret theprogram, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessaryfor providing quality long-term care and maintaining a sound operation.
  • Mustbe thoroughly familiar with laws, regulations, and guidelines governingpersonnel administration.
  • Musthave patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as must bewilling to handle residents, associates, and visitors, based on whatevermaturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Mustpossess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing toincorporate them into existing practices.
  • Mustbe able to maintain good personnel relations and employee morale.
  • Mustbe able to read and interpret financial records, reports, etc.
  • Mustbe able to communicate policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc., topersonnel, residents, family members, visitors, and governmentagencies/personnel.
  • Mustnot pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in theworkplace.

  • Must beable to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionallyupset, and at time hostile people within the facility.

  • Must beable to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of five (5) pounds to aminimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/orcarry such weight a minimum distance of five (5) feet.
  • Must beable to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Sitting: 1 hour per 8-hourshift. Alternates frequently tostanding or walking.
  • Standing: 1-2 hours per 8-hourshift. Alternates frequently towalking and occasionally to sitting.
  • Walking: 5-6 hours per 8 hourshift. Alternates frequently tostanding and occasionally to sitting.
