Job summary

Medical Service Company is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Canton, OH. You will assess patient needs, select appropriate respiratory equipment, and coordinate with physicians and families to optimize care.

Responsibilities include documenting plans of care, educating patients on therapy, and ensuring compliance with policies. NBRC credentials and an active state license are required, with willingness to obtain additional licensure as needed.

Qualifications

• Proof of current Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Documents the order for respiratory equipment/services from referral sources.
• Assesses customer needs and selects best equipment/services with patient/caregiver input.
• Acts as liaison between customer, family, physician and health care staff.
• Instructs patients in proper use and care of respiratory equipment and therapy.
• Communicates changes with the physician and adjusts Plan of Care accordingly.
• Completes Plan of Care/Treatment paperwork and discharge plans as required.

Reports To: Director or HUB Manager

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Documents the order for respiratory equipment and/or services from the referral source, physician, customer, family member, or caregiver. Collects additional information and/or authorization if referral is from other than the physician.
• Assesses the need of the customer and the best choice of equipment and/or services to meet those needs, involving the customer, family, and/or caregiver in the selection process.
• Acts as a liaison between the company and the customer, family, caregiver, physician and other health care agencies and staff on the case.
• Instructs customer in the proper use and care of the equipment according to the written policies and procedures for that equipment. Educates oxygen patients on their disease process and purpose/benefit of oxygen therapy as part of their treatment to help improve compliance to physician orders.
• Communicates with the customer's physician on changes in the customer's condition and/or needs and carries out adjustment to the customer's Plan of Care/Treatment.
• Completes customer accounts paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment, Equipment Contact forms and assessments, and discharge plans for respiratory customers as needed per policy.

Proof of a current Respiratory Therapist license, in good standing, in the State local to the requisition.

Must hold and maintain current NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) credential(s) as required for the position.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Physical Requirements:

• Have a willingness to obtain additional state licensure as requested.
• Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field.
• Ability to understand respiratory implications of industry change.
• Excellent communication (orally and in writing), telephone and customer relation skills.
• Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills (a team player).
• Normal office/clerical motor skills in addition to extensive computer and telephone usage
