Job summary

Beloit Health System, Inc. is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Pulmonary Care team. The role involves delivering respiratory therapies, assessing patients, and ensuring safe, cost-effective care in a high-demand environment.

The candidate will manage ventilated patients, participate in emergency alerts, and document therapy and testing in the EMR while maintaining department organization and infection control compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapists.
  • Licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice Respiratory Therapy.
  • CPR certification; NRP certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, evaluate, educate, and deliver quality respiratory therapy safely and cost-effectively.
  • Manage patients on life support equipment and adjust mechanical ventilators to patient needs.
  • Participate in Medical Emergency Alerts, Rapid Response Teams, Stroke Alerts, and Trauma Alerts.
  • Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot clinical equipment; conduct routine quality controls and preventive maintenance.
  • Document all patient therapy, testing, and charges in the EMR; ensure department cleanliness and supply stocks.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and maintain patient assessment skills; collaborate with physicians.

Beloit Health System is looking to add a Respiratory Therapist to our Team!

  • Sign-On Bonus: Yes
  • Shift: 1st
  • Schedule: 6:30 am - 7:00 pm
  • Hours per week: 24 - 36

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for supporting and managing patients requiring respiratory therapy. Responsibilities include: assessing, planning, evaluating, educating, and delivering quality respiratory therapy in a safe and cost-effective manner.

  • Manages patients on life support equipment. Initiates, modifies, and adjusts mechanical respirators to meet patient needs.
  • Functions as a member of the Medical Emergency Alert, Rapid Response Teams, Stroke Alerts, Red C-Sections, and Trauma Alerts.
  • Performs collection and analysis of arterial blood gas collections.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots all clinical equipment. Performs routine instrument checks, quality controls, and other preventative maintenance procedures as required.
  • Thoroughly and appropriately documents patient therapy, testing, and charges in the EMR.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the department and organizes and stocks supplies as needed.
  • Strictly adheres to infection control policies.
  • Maintains patient assessment skills.
  • Actively participates in patient care decisions with the physician.
  • Acts as a resource for physician and nursing staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to the position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapists. Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Therapist (CRT credentials).
  • RRT credentials obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice Respiratory Therapy.
  • CPR certification
  • NRP Certified, New hires must obtain NRP certification within 1 year (12 months) of hire date
  • Ability to interpret test results and make appropriate therapy recommendations.
  • Must be able to establish priorities and respond in emergency situations.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Must adhere to established hospital and Pulmonary Care department policies, rules, and regulations
  • Maturity and ethics consistent with the practice of respiratory therapy
  • Maintains ethical conduct and confidentiality regarding personal and medical information on patients.Reporting Relationship: Director of Pulmonary Care Services, Manager of Lab Lead Therapist. Patient care - Medical Director of Pulmonary Care.
