Job summary

HRforGrowth is recruiting a seasoned Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week travel assignment with our client in Atlanta. The therapist will provide neonatal to geriatric respiratory care, assess status, manage equipment, perform diagnostics, and collaborate with physicians and teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include equipment management, emergency response, documentation in EMR, and leadership duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapy experience in acute care.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an Associate Degree or equivalent.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (NBRC).
• Experience with acute care hospital settings.
• Experience managing mechanically ventilated patients.
• Strong critical care assessment skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status and develop treatment plans.
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in CPR.
• Document respiratory treatments and patient responses in EMR.
• Participate in Neonatal Resuscitation Team during high-risk deliveries.

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13-week travel assignment. The Respiratory Therapist will provide comprehensive respiratory care services across neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. The therapist will be responsible for assessing respiratory status, managing advanced respiratory equipment, performing diagnostic testing, participating in emergency interventions, and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment & Clinical Care
  • Assess patients' respiratory status using:
    • Physical assessment
    • Vital signs
    • Chest X-rays
    • Clinical history
  • Develop appropriate respiratory treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient response to therapy.
  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Critical Care & Ventilator Management

• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators.
• Perform ventilator adjustments based on physician orders and patient condition.
• Administer oxygen therapy.
• Monitor oxygenation and ventilation using non-invasive monitoring equipment.
• Manage critically ill patients requiring advanced respiratory support.

Emergency & Critical Response

• Respond to respiratory emergencies.
• Participate in Code Blue events.
• Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Perform endotracheal intubation when required.
• Participate as a member of the Neonatal Resuscitation Team during high-risk deliveries.
• Assess respiratory status of newborn infants after delivery.
• Perform surfactant replacement therapy (NICU) when applicable.

Procedural Support

• Assist physicians with:
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Navigation Bronchoscopy
  • Cryotherapy Procedures
• Perform these procedures only after competency validation.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate electronic medical records.
• Document respiratory treatments and patient responses.
• Follow hospital respiratory care protocols.
• Follow OSHA and Joint Commission safety guidelines.
• Report equipment malfunctions and safety hazards immediately.
• Ensure compliance with hospital corporate policies and healthcare regulations.

Leadership

• Serve as Charge Respiratory Therapist when assigned.
• Precept and mentor new staff.
• Participate in department education and professional development.
• Perform additional duties assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Respiratory Therapy experience within the specialty.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an Associate Degree or equivalent.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Experience with acute care hospital settings.
• Experience managing mechanically ventilated patients.
• Strong critical care assessment skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
