Job summary

Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, KS seeks a part-time Respiratory Technician reporting to the Respiratory Supervisor. You will administer oxygen therapy and nebulizers, evaluate patient response, and maintain accurate treatment records in accordance with department policies.

The role requires licensed student permit in Kansas, BLS/RQI/CPR/ACLS per department, strong communication, problem-solving and the ability to follow orders.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed with a student permit by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) and be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire.

• Records accurate patient charges.
• Evaluates patients as to their respiratory status and response to respiratory procedures.
• Is proficient in all phases of basic cardiac life support.

A Brief Overview

This position reports directly to the Respiratory Supervisor and is responsible for rendering, small volume nebulizers, oxygen therapy and bronchial hygiene. The Respiratory Technician must have an adequate understanding of the indications, contraindications, and physiologic effects of the respiratory and oxygen therapy modalities and possess understanding of basic respiratory care procedures.

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
