Job summary

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner Pulmonary Function specialist for a PRN/Per Diem role. You will perform pulmonary function tests, monitor patient responses, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality care.

The position requires Missouri licensure, BLS HCP certification, and NBRC credentials CPFT or RPFT. Experience is not required; schedule is part-time, day shift, on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.
• Missouri licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• BLS HealthCare Provider certification (AHA).
• NBRC credentials CPFT or RPFT.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs ordered pulmonary function and pulmonary stress testing.

• Documents and reports testing results.

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner Pulmonary Function specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing respiratory care services to our patients which will include assessing patients' respiratory conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring their progress. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Missouri licensure is required for this position.

Job Summary

Provides diagnostic evaluation of pulmonary function in patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

• Performs ordered pulmonary function and pulmonary stress testing. Monitors and evaluates patient response during and after testing. Documents and reports testing results.
• Determines testing reference ranges and interprets results. Recognizes and corrects for invalid test results.
• Prepares, maintains and calibrates pulmonary function testing equipment. Maintains adequate levels of supplies used for testing. Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports needed repairs/replacements.
• Provides education and resources to patient and/or patient's family based on clinical implications.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.

Physical Requirements

• Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
• Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling and running.
