Job Description / Responsibilities

Respiratory Therapists administer respiratory care in accordance with physician prescription. Responsibilities include diagnostic evaluation (obtaining and analyzing physiological specimens, interpreting physiologic data, performing cardiopulmonary and neuropsychological studies), management, education, and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies, and care of patients with abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The practice includes the application of technology and use of treatment protocols across all care sites, including but not limited to application and monitoring of medical gases (excluding anesthetic gases), environmental control systems, mechanical ventilatory support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and hemodynamic cardiovascular support.

Qualifications / Work Experience
  • Associate’s Degree or legacy approved certificate program; working toward an advanced respiratory related credential
  • One year of experience as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT)
  • Current Maryland license as a Respiratory Therapist in good standing
  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a certified respiratory therapist (CRT) and planned registration as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT) within six months of employment
  • Required: Certification in Pre‑Transport/Post‑Resuscitation Stabilization Care of Sick Infants (STABLE) for staff who care for neonates
