Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s outpatient PFT lab in Huntley is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I for a full-time, 40-hour week on weekdays. You will perform PFTs, spirometry, 6-minute walk tests and related procedures within the Pulmonary suite on the second floor of MOB3.

Licensed clinicians assess and treat acutely ill patients, educate families, and collaborate with the health care team while upholding NM’s ethics and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • CRT or RRT certification required.
  • Active Illinois Respiratory Care License.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Competent in all adult med surg units in all respiratory therapies and modalities.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the healthcare team.
  • Educates patients and families on respiratory disease management and resources.
  • Responds to clinical emergencies.
  • Evaluates and uses respiratory care policies based on outcomes and best practices.
  • Precepts students.
  • Promotes teamwork and NM Code of Professionalism.

Description

This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week for our outpatient PFT lab that is within the Pulmonary suite on the second floor of MOB3 in Huntley. Responsibilities will include doing complete PFTs, spirometry testing, 6 minute walk tests etc. Schedule is Monday through Friday, no weekends and no holidays.

Respiratory Care Practitioner I reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

A clinically competent, licensed professional who administers Respiratory care to the acutely ill patient through assessment, planning/evaluation, intervention and treatment. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while providing care within the scope of their training.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as positive role model for team members by working with them to promote teamwork and cooperation; consistently adheres to NM Code of Professionalism.
Qualifications
Required
  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Active Illinois Respiratory Care License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
Preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Adult Cardiovasular Life Support (ACLS)
