The Respiratory Account Clinician (RAC) is a dynamic outside sales and marketingrepresentative that calls on physician offices, hospitals, and post-acute care providers,in a specific territory, seeking patient referrals. RAE focuses on Respiratory Equipmentand Supplies like: Ventilation, Vests, Oxygen, BiPAP, CPAP and any other durablemedical equipment, supplies and services the VP of Sales and Marketing prioritizes asfocus. The Respiratory Account Clinician also is responsible for patients with respiratoryand respiratory-related equipment. They have the responsibility of the assessment ofthe patient needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriateequipment and or service provided to meet those needs; maintaining appropriate Documentation.
Responsibilities
- 70% Sales and 30% Clinical duties split (3 days/2 days)
- Be able to execute strategic planning and selling to your referral sources. Thisincludes pre-call planning and the ability to understand that each sales call has anopening, probing questioning, presenting of benefits, and closing for the business.
- Become an expert on our core products of Respiratory Equipment and Suppliesincluding Ventilators, Vests, Oxygen, BiPAP, CPAP and any other respiratory relatedequipment & supplies.
- Meet monthly sales goals and quotas to maximize your commission and to driverevenue for the company.
- Identify and evaluate the top referral sources (i.e. hospitals, home health agencies,and physicians) in your territory and call on those sources to increase patientreferrals for the company.
- Call on at a minimum of 8 to 10 referral sources per day establishing relationships, setting up in-services, and seeking patient referrals.
- Be organized and have excellent follow up skills.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation, and listening skills.
- Be able to make presentations to physicians, home health agencies, and hospitalsregarding our core products and services.
- Meet all administrative duties including expense reports, weekly conference calls,emails, monthly sales meeting, billing documentation and follow up.
- Be able to provide overall organizational excellence via dedication, quality, andoutstanding customer service.
- All account executives should understand durable medical equipment and supplyindustry, be able to analyze pharmacology products, and apply training on health care industry trends, applicable laws and regulations, market conditions, and themanaged health care environment in daily execution of sales calls to physicianclients.
- As a Respiratory Account Executive, you will be provided DME products, insights anddata to identify and prioritize business, and offer solutions to problems andchallenges to physician clients. It is also important to allocate resources in a mannertailored to meet different customer needs and opportunities, monitors performanceof plans and makes real-time adjustments.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding and applies training and in-service withrespect to disease state, products and relevant competitor products.
- Comprehends and effectively communicates complex technical information, includingconcepts and continues to expand knowledge in these areas.
- Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with physicians in privatepractice, medical group practices, hospitals, office staff and others in the patient carecontinuum.
- Fosters team effectiveness and accomplishment of shared goals through appropriately sharing of knowledge, experience, and information.
- Drivers market share growth and maximizes sales performance within the indicateduse and for the approved patients.
- Comprehensive understanding of the managed health care industry includingreimbursement, State Medicaid programs, medical benefits and interfacing oreducation/certification with managed care, provider relations or both and will have experience in contracting.
- Performs other duties, as assigned by the regional sales manager.
- Understand and adheres to all of SuperCare Health company policies
- Receives and documents the order for respiratory equipment and or services fromthe customer service, patient, caregiver, physician, and or family member.
- Collects additional information and or documentation needed from insurance orphysician
- Assesses the need of the patient and the best choice of respiratory therapy orservices needed
- Responsible for the instruction and education in the proper use and care ofrespiratory equipment according to the written policies and procedures for thepatient, family, and or caregiver.
- Communicates with the patient's physician on changes in patient's condition or needs and carries out adjustment to the patient's Plan of Care
- Completes patient accounts paperwork including Plan of Care-treatment/assessments
- Acts as liaison between SuperCare Health and the patient, family, caregiver and physician
- Assumes full responsibility for their own actions, professional skills, and attitudes
- Follow all policies and procedures as outlined by JCAHO
- Follows up visit for respiratory patients and assists in continuity of care as neededand determined by policy and procedure
- Responsible for setting up respiratory equipment within the appointment/ETA given to ensure patient satisfaction
- Provides services for marketing department and all other departments as necessary
- Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity and patience when dealing withpatients.
- Supports SuperCare Health by being loyal and informing the office of concerns and problems to be resolved
- Understand and adheres to all of SuperCare Health company policies
- To remain knowledgeable to date on all products
- Maintain a professional, safe, and clean work environment
Education and or Work Experience Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited high school
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or natural science
- Knowledge in the Healthcare DME, Ventilation, Vests, Oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP andrespiratory supplies. Industry sales is highly desirable.
- 3-5 years experience in sales and marketing of home healthcare and/or post acutecare.
- Understanding of current rules and regulations of Medicare, Medi-Cal and otherinsurances.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, executive presentation andinterpersonal skills and ability to effectively and diplomatically interact with various internal and external personnel with competing interests and priorities.
- Outstanding analytical sales and problem solving skills.
- Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of people to result in constructiveworking relationships.
- People-sensitive characteristics, patient and caring behavior approach & positiveattitude with a genuine desire to help others and ability to work in a very fast paced environment.
- Active participant in professional healthcare organizations.

- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a high pressure, fast paced environment and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented, organized and results driven.
- Ability to function independently with little direction and make best use of work time to complete daily tasks and assignments on schedule.
Physical Effort
- Lifting and loading of equipment into and out of delivery vehicles and patient homes.
- Minimum physical requirements are the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Graduate from accredited RT Care Program (licensed RCP)
- Experience as Respiratory Therapist
- Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field
