Job summary

United Way Miami is hiring a Resource Teacher II to support classroom practitioners, children, and families within the center. You will assist with daily operations and help implement Head Start performance standards.

As part of the Center team, you will collaborate on lesson planning, observations, and staff communications, ensuring a safe, compliant, and engaging learning environment for young children.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degrees are not required; an associate degree in ECE or related field is required.
  • DCF 45-hour Child Care Training must be completed within 90 days if not already obtained.
  • Two+ years of experience in early childhood education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support five to nine classroom practitioners, children, and families enrolled at the center.
  • Assist the Center Director with implementation of licensing standards and Head Start/Early Head Start requirements.
  • Maintain daily operation and coordinate communications with families and staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans and document observations.

United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Resource Teacher II to join our team. As a Resource Teacher II, you will be responsible for providing programmatic support to five to nine classroom practitioners, children, and families enrolled in the center. Assists the Center Director with the implementation of state regulatory guidelines and Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Program Management and Administration:
  • Assist the Center Director in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the center
  • Act as liaison between the Center Director and teachers
  • Share responsibility for opening and closing the center
  • Inform the Center Director of all incidents that occur pertaining to the daily operation of the program
  • Update the teachers’ bulletin board to highlight upcoming trainings and/or events
  • In the absence of the Center Director, be available to receive current and prospective parents, listen and respond to inquiries, and lead tours of the center
  • Maintain flexibility in schedule to adapt to the needs of the center; may include providing coverage in a classroom to maintain required ratios
Classroom Support To More Than 6 Classrooms

Collaborate with classroom staff in the development of lesson plans, anecdotal observations, and screenings

  • Observation: In partnership with the Director, observe the teachers’ interactions within the context of everyday experiences. Focus observation on goals that were set forth during joint planning. Document specific examples
  • Feedback/Reflection: Engage in reflective dialogue with teachers. Reflect on the impact for children and the learning that has taken place for children, as well as teachers. Determine if additional supports are needed
Health, Safety, And Licensing
  • Assist the Director in ensuring all center guidelines, licensing requirements, health regulations, fire codes, permits, and licenses remain current
  • Follow EHS-CCP Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • In partnership with the Director, ensure all accidents and incidents are documented, and notify parents as necessary
  • Perform a monthly Health and Safety checklist for all classrooms
  • Monitor Checklists: fridge log, fanny pack log, first aid checklist, volunteer log
Center Maintenance
  • Ensure the program provides a clean, safe, child-ready center at all times, with careful thought given to displays and environment
  • Monitor maintenance of facility, equipment, and supplies
  • Support daily meal distribution, complete daily Meal Counts, and input meal numbers into the USDA report
  • Regularly check supply inventory, request supplies (i.e., diapers and wipes each month), receive monthly shipment of supplies, and coordinate proper storage
  • Manage laundry operations

Requirements

Education Requirements: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related education field required. Candidates with a related education degree must have a minimum of 18 college credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE/EEC). The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) 45-hour Child Care Training must be completed within 90 days of employment if not already obtained. Fifteen (15) hours of annual in-service training are required to maintain compliance. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Experience Requirements: Two or more years of experience working in an early childhood education setting preferred.

Technology Requirements: Knowledge of modern web browsers, Intermediate Word, Beginning Excel, and Beginning Outlook.

Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Flexibility. Understand concepts around Visible Thinking, Multiple Intelligence, Dual Language, Inclusion, Early Literacy strategies, and Reflective Supervision.
