Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health Medical‑Surgical team is seeking a Resource Nurse to support frontline nurses, maintain patient flow, and ensure safe, timely care.

You will collaborate with the Charge Nurse on admissions, discharges, transfers and real‑time needs, delivering expert clinical support across shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
• Minimum of two years of recent acute care RN experience; strong medical-surgical clinical skills and ability to manage changing priorities.
• Current RN license in South Carolina or multi-state compact; BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on clinical support for admissions, discharges, transfers, IV access, and patient assessments.
• Partner with Charge Nurse to cover break shifts and real-time patient care needs; support frontline nurses and improve patient flow.
• Promote teamwork, efficiency and a safe, high-quality patient experience.

Are you an experienced RN who thrives on teamwork, clinical problem-solving, and keeping patient care moving? Join our Medical-Surgical team as a Resource Nurse and play a vital role in supporting frontline nurses, improving patient flow, and ensuring safe, timely, high-quality care.

As a Resource Nurse, you’ll partner with the Charge Nurse to provide hands‑on clinical support where it’s needed most—from admissions, discharges, and transfers to IV access, patient assessments, break coverage, and real‑time patient care needs. You’ll be a trusted clinical resource, helping the team navigate changing priorities while promoting teamwork, efficiency, and an exceptional patient experience.

Additional Job Description

Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years of recent acute care Registered Nurse experience preferred. Strong medical surgical clinical experience, prioritization, IV skills, patient flow awareness, and ability to work independently across changing priorities are strongly preferred. Charge Nurse, Resource Nurse, preceptor, or similar clinical leadership experience is preferred.

Required License & Certificati on: Current Registered Nurse license in South Carolina or current multistate compact RN license. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support with American Heart Association
