Job summary

Youth Guidance is seeking a Resource Coordinator to manage and grow afterschool and before school programming, recruit students, and collaborate with community partners to provide services that meet family needs. The role also leads parent engagement initiatives and helps staff a Community Schools Advisory Committee with CPS.

The position requires a Bachelor degree (or 60 college credits), 3 years in a non-profit or community setting, and strong verbal/written communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent of sixty college credit hours required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in non-profit/social service/community development organizations with children and/or adults.
• 1-2 years of experience working with elementary or high school age youth; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee program staff and monitor absenteeism, parent/child interactions.
• Create and manage developmentally appropriate multi-age after school programs and schedules.
• Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance, financial, and data records; manage grants and tuition budgets.
• Coordinate outreach to parents and community members to champion authentic engagement; staff CPS advisory committee coordination.
• Negotiate with vendors and partners; contribute to marketing plans for growth and expansion.

Position Summary: The Resource Coordinator is responsible for managing and expanding afterschool and before school community schools programming by recruiting student participants, working with community members and organizations to offer programs and services that meet the needs of students and their families, marketing programs for growth and sustainability, and providing training to authentically integrate and strengthen parent engagement in school activities. Also responsible for facilitating parent and community input and engagement through development and staffing of a Community Schools Advisory Committee in partnership with school administrators. The Resource and Family Engagement Coordinator will also represent Youth Guidance as a Lead Partner Agency with CPS and serve as a liaison with CPS Community Schools staff.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Oversight of program staff; monitoring absenteeism and parent and child interactionsCreate a developmentally appropriate multi-age after school programCreate and maintain a program schedule that reflects effective managementDevelop and maintain appropriate conflict resolution and behavior management techniquesEffectively manage a grant and tuition-based budget maintaining compliance with the provisions of the grant and the collection of all tuition paymentsMaintain accurate financial and attendance recordsFacilitate evaluation activities as required by CPS and other funding contractsCoordinates and provides direct outreach to parents, caregivers, and community members to champion authentic parent engagement.Coordinate and monitor programs and activitiesMaintain accurate enrollment and attendance recordsPurchase/order materials and suppliesMaintain accurate accounting records, data, and statisticsRecruit high quality program partners that support the school’s missionDevelop and maintain a marketing plan that supports the organization’s overall plan for growth and expansionNegotiate agreements with vendors and organizations that provide servicesPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsEducation/Experience/TrainingBachelor degree or equivalent of sixty college credit hours requiredMinimum of 3 years of experience working with children and/or adults in a non-profit, social service or community development organizationSkills/Abilities1-2 years of experience working with elementary or high school age youthAbility to understand and interpret the policies, procedures, and general organizational structure of the Chicago Public SchoolsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to keep accurate records and prepare reportsBilingual candidate preferredPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
