Job summary

Chatham County is seeking a Part-Time Resource Center Activity Coordinator with an Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Education, or a related field and 3 years of outreach experience. The role covers education program implementation, event planning, presentations, and volunteer coordination at the Resource Conservation Education Center.

Responsibilities include developing marketing materials, public service announcements, and reports, with weekend availability required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Education, or a related field.
• At least three (3) years of experience as a community program outreach coordinator.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must have basic computer skills including Photoshop and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Give formal presentations to adults and children.
• Create advertisements and Public Service Announcements for media outlets.
• Assist with developing and designing public education and awareness materials.
• Recruit, organize, and schedule groups of citizen volunteers.
• Provide day-to-day operational oversight of Center functions, housekeeping, and grounds.
• Maintain records of Center usage and prepare reports.
• Work weekends and fill in during periods of absence of the Facility Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Part-Time Position

With your Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Education, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience as a community program outreach coordinator, you could be our next Resource Center Activity Coordinator.

Under the general supervision of the Facility Manager, you

• Implement education programs and initiatives, marketing, and promotional activities in support and development of the Resource Conservation Education Center, including initiatives involving resource conservation, solid waste, recycling, waste reduction, and community beautification.
• Plan and schedule events, programs, and special outreach community workshops, including developing and utilizing lesson plans.
• Give formal presentations to adults and children.
• Create advertisements and Public Service Announcements for media outlets.
• Assist with developing and designing public education and awareness materials.
• Recruit, organize, and schedule groups of citizen volunteers.
• Provide routine day-to-day operational oversight of basic functions of the Center, including internal and external housekeeping and lot and grounds maintenance at the Center.
• Maintain records of the Center and drop-off sites' usage, effectiveness, and impact and prepare and present accurate and reliable reports.
• Must be able to work weekends and fill in during periods of absence of the Facility Manager.
