Job summary

Sun Outdoors in Florida is seeking a Resort Groundskeeper to maintain landscapes, mow lawns, weed, plant flowers, and help with snow removal where applicable. You will help keep our resorts well-maintained and welcoming for residents and guests.

Responsibilities include trimming shrubs, inspecting irrigation, picking up trash, operating tools safely, and assisting with light maintenance. A valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in seasonal temperatures are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months in groundskeeping experience in the resort industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to endure outdoor working conditions across seasons.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power equipment and commercial machinery.
  • Ability to provide legible written reports.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure lawns are manicured and weeded; plant flowers and shrubs; perform mulching and hedging.
  • Weed control, weed whips, rake leaves, prune and maintain landscaping.
  • Picks up trash and debris daily in common areas; operate tools and equipment safely.
  • Inspect irrigation systems and perform repairs as needed.
  • Report maintenance issues to the manager and handle light maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain resort vehicles and equipment; ensure resort is presentable at all times.
  • Support pool maintenance as applicable and follow safety procedures.

Job description

Resort Groundskeepers perform a variety of landscaping maintenance and snow removal duties (where applicable). They regularly mow lawns, weed, plant flowers, plow snow, remove debris from property grounds, and overall ensure our resorts are well-maintained and look presentable. Resort Groundskeepers also work to ensure our residents and guests receive quality customer service. On occasion, Resort Groundskeepers may help out with light maintenance work throughout the property.

Job Duties
  • Ensures lawns are manicured appropriately (Essential)
  • Regularly treat weeds for weed control, weed whip, rake leaves, plant flowers/shrubs, spread mulch/woodchips/stones, trim shrubs and hedges, cut down and remove tree limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions, and perform other lawn care services (Essential)
  • Picks-up trash and debris from common areas and streets on a daily basis. Empties trash in common areas, shoveling, performing maintenance or repair duties, using saws, weed eaters, blowers, mowers, drills or other hand tools (Essential)
  • Inspects irrigation system regularly to ensure it is working properly; repairs as needed (Essential)
  • Reports all resort maintenance issues and concerns that they may identify while performing their daily duties directly to their manager (Essential)
  • Maintains resort vehicles and equipment (Essential)
  • Ensures resort is presentable at all times and adheres to Sun's curb appeal standards
  • If applicable, maintains resort pool(s), testing chemical levels, adjusting appropriately
  • Safely operates vehicles for the purpose of performing job duties
  • Follows safety procedures while performing duties
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 6 months in previous groundskeeping experience in the resort industry (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general grounds maintenance techniques
  • Ability to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions requires constant outdoor work
  • Proficient skills in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
  • Ability to provide legible written reports
  • Ability to work well independently as well as a team
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
  • Must have a valid driver's license
