Job summary

Sun Outdoors in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, is seeking a Resort Groundskeeper to maintain lawns, plant flowers, clear debris, and assist with light property maintenance while delivering quality guest service. This role requires outdoor work in all seasons, operates hand tools and equipment, and supports resort operations to keep the property attractive and safe.

The position offers a hands-on environment with opportunities to grow skills in landscaping and facility upkeep while serving residents

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months groundskeeping experience preferred.
• Ability to endure outdoor work in seasonal temperatures.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Mows lawns, weeds, plants flowers, and performs general lawn care.
• Inspects irrigation systems and makes repairs as needed.
• Picks up trash and debris daily in common areas.
• Operates hand tools, power equipment and machinery safely.
• Reports maintenance issues to the manager.
• Maintains resort appearance and adheres to curb appeal standards.
• Provides quality customer service to residents and guests.

Overview

Resort Groundskeepers perform a variety of landscaping maintenance and snow removal duties (where applicable). They regularly mow lawns, weed, plant flowers, plow snow, remove debris from property grounds, and overall ensure our resorts are well-maintained and look presentable. Resort Groundskeepers also work to ensure our residents and guests receive quality customer service. On occasion, Resort Groundskeepers may help out with light maintenance work throughout the property.

Resort Groundskeepers also work to ensure our residents and guests receive quality customer service. On occasion, Resort Groundskeepers may help out with light maintenance work throughout the property.

Job Duties

• Ensures lawns are manicured appropriately (Essential)
• Regularly treat weeds for weed control, weed whip, rake leaves, plant flowers/shrubs, spread mulch/woodchips/stones, trim shrubs and hedges, cut down and remove tree limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions, and perform other lawn care services (Essential)
• Picks-up trash and debris from common areas and streets on a daily basis. Empties trash in common areas, shoveling, performing maintenance or repair duties, using saws, weed eaters, blowers, mowers, drills or other hand tools (Essential)
• Inspects irrigation system regularly to ensure it is working properly; repairs as needed (Essential)
• Reports all resort maintenance issues and concerns that they may identify while performing their daily duties directly to their manager (Essential)
• Maintains resort vehicles and equipment (Essential)
• Ensures resort is presentable at all times and adheres to Sun's curb appeal standards
• If applicable, maintains resort pool(s), testing chemical levels, adjusting appropriately
• Safely operates vehicles for the purpose of performing job duties
• Follows safety procedures while performing duties
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• 6 months in previous groundskeeping experience in the resort industry (Preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general grounds maintenance techniques
• Ability to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions requires constant outdoor work
• Proficient skills in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
• Ability to provide legible written reports
• Ability to work well independently as well as a team
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds
• Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
• Must have a valid driver's license
