Job summary

Alachua County Sheriff's Office in Gainesville seeks a part-time Student Intern for the Resiliency Program to support climate action plan initiatives, community outreach, workshops, and communications projects. The internship is open to students from various academic backgrounds who are passionate about environmental sustainability and local resiliency solutions.

The role runs about 10 hours per week with potential weekend participation, starting in early September and extending through spring

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or technical school taking college-level courses.
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and drug screen.
  • Must have State of Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Manage event planning with attendees, vendors, nonprofit partners and County staff.
  • Create outreach and social marketing materials using Canva (flyers, literature, emails, website updates).
  • Organize contacts, CAP action items, and community engagement links for CAP implementation.
  • Conduct background research and drafting for CAP Ch. 9 (Green/Circular Economy).
  • Support CCAC liaison by preparing meeting materials and minutes, and contributing agenda ideas.
  • Attend community events, occasional evenings or weekends.
