Job summary

QXO, a leading building products distributor and installer, seeks a Truss Designer to translate architectural plans into accurate truss layouts using Alpine or other approved software, coordinating approvals with customers and preparing design revisions.

Designs must meet code requirements and company standards, with collaboration across Design, Sales, Production, and Operations to ensure production readiness and quality, while maintaining schedules and documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of truss design and residential construction required.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction plans.
• Attention to detail and design accuracy essential.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous customer-facing experience preferred.
• Work is office/design environment with extensive software use.
• Experience with Alpine or other truss design software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design truss systems from drawings and customer plans.
• Use Alpine or approved software to create accurate designs.
• Review plans for dimensions and code requirements.
• Prepare profiles and layouts for customer review.
• Verify designs meet county codes and company standards.
• Maintain project and design documentation throughout the process.
• Provide customers with profiles and layouts for approval and revisions.
• Collaborate with Design, Sales, Production, and Operations for project success.
• Coordinate with production to ensure production readiness and quality.
• Support training and knowledge sharing within the team.
