Job summary

Volunteers of America Southeast, Inc in Lafayette, GA seeks a Residential Trainer/Instructor to provide direct care and support for individuals in our program. This entry-level, part-time role focuses on life skills coaching and daily living assistance.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, is located in Lafayette, GA, with evenings and weekend shifts, starting pay of $16.00 per hour and a strong emphasis on dignity and respect for those served.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass First Aid, CPR and CPI trainings.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to maintain progress notes.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, instruction, encouragement and reinforcement to individuals we support.
• Assist with daily living skills including coaching, cooking, cleaning and transportation for appointments and activities.
• Document daily progress notes and attainment of Individual Service Plan goals.
• Monitor behaviors and communicate changes to the Program Manager.
• Establish rapport with individuals, families and supports to ensure coordinated care.

Function: The Residential Trainer Instructor provides supervision, instruction, encouragement and reinforcement to individuals we support with a focus on their right to be treated with dignity and respect. Know How: This position requires a person eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED. This position provides life enhancement assistance to persons served as specified in Individual Service Plans. The Residential Trainer documents daily progress notes, attainment of Individual Service Plan goals and incidents in an accurate, thorough and timely manner. The Residential Trainer monitors behavior and mental status of persons served, notifying the Program Manager of changes. The Residential Trainer must be able to establish rapport with individuals, family members, friends, and other natural supports to ensure comprehensive coordination. The employee must possess a high level of written communication skills, a validGeorgia driver's license and the ability to continuously meet the requirements of VOA Southeast's vehicle insurance company. The Residential Trainer must also be able to pass all required training courses including but not limited to First Aid, CPR and CPI, and VOASE Policies & Procedures. The Residential Trainer assists individuals with daily living skills such as: Coaching Cooking Cleaning Assisting with medication administration Providing transportation to doctor appointments and recreational activities.
