Job Overview – Residential Support Specialist (Developmental Disabilities)

Compensation: $25/hour

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Residential Support Specialist (Developmental Disabilities) in Bennington County, VT for our client. This role supports individuals within residential and community-based care settings by assisting with daily living activities, behavioral support, transportation, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working within direct care and behavioral health environments.

Responsibilities as the Residential Support Specialist:
  • Direct Care Support: Assist individuals with daily living activities, supervision, recreational programming, and community-based activities.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate participation in community outings, recreational activities, and social skill development opportunities.
  • Transportation Assistance: Transport clients safely to activities, appointments, and community events as required.
  • Behavioral Support: Follow individualized treatment and support plans while responding appropriately to behavioral or crisis situations.
  • Documentation & Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate progress notes, schedules, reports, and program documentation in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with families, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams regarding client progress and support needs.
Qualifications for the Residential Support Specialist:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Experience: Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or residential populations is preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with direct support services, community-based care, and behavioral support environments is helpful.
