A full-time Residential Specialist II is sought in the Torrington area, Sunday-Thursday or Friday-Monday, 4:00 pm - 12:00 am, documenting and delivering direct services to adults in recovery. Pay rate is $20.60/hour with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience or degree in related field.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Engage with persons in recovery to assure participation in programs and activities.
• Document all activities, communications, and encounters according to service contract and MHC requirements.
• Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Act as a liaison with therapists, referral sources, and community agencies.
• Monitor safety of individuals in recovery in residences through supervision of the sites.
• Identify and refer individuals to community supports and resources.
• Monitor and document self-administration of medications and note issues.
• Develop and maintain confidential charts with daily progress and incidents.
• Develop content for educational and wellness group discussions and activities.
• Provide community-based or program site coverage as needed.

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) is a statewide not for profit provider agency that partners with individuals, their families, and the surrounding communities to create environments that support long-term health and wellness.

MHC has a full-time opening (Sunday - Thursday or Friday - Monday; 4:00 pm - 12:00 am) for a Residential Specialist II within the Torrington area. This position will be responsible for documenting and delivering direct services, including Medicaid reimbursable services if applicable, to adult persons in recovery from chronic mental and other co-occurring conditions as outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans to improve their quality of life and maintain the highest possible ability to function in the community.

Pay Rate: $20.60 per hour. MHC offers a competitive benefit package which includes:

Requirements

The Residential Specialist II responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Engage with persons in recovery to assure they participate in programs and activities.
• Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
• Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Act as a liaison with the individuals' therapists, referral sources, and community agencies.
• Monitor the safety of individuals in recovery in their residences through proper supervision of the sites ensuring the maintenance of safe and healthy facilities.
• Identify and refer individuals to appropriate community supports and resources advocating for and supporting individual centered preferences.
• Monitor and document the self-administration of medications noting any refusal, resistance, reactions, errors or special conditions.
• Develop and maintain confidential charts through accurate and timely documentation of daily progress, behaviors, unusual incidents or emergency events.
• Develop and design content and objectives for educational and wellness-related group discussions and activities. Encourage participation, coordinate schedule, and gather the materials needed for the discussion or activity. Implement and facilitate ongoing group activities and discussions with program participants.
• Provide community based or program site coverage when necessary. May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.

Education and/or Experience:

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• 2 years of related experience and/or degree in related field, license, certification i.e. Recovery Assistant certificate.

• Valid driver’s license.
