Job summary

Mental Health Connecticut, Inc. is seeking a Residential Specialist II for our Bridgeport area program. The role covers documenting services, delivering Medicaid-reimbursable services when applicable, and implementing recovery plans for adults in recovery.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma required
  • 2 years of related experience and/or degree in related field, license, certification (e.g. Recovery Assistant)
  • Prior experience in community mental health preferred

  • Ensure the safety of individuals in residence through proper supervision of the site.
  • Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills for a clean environment.

  • Implement, design, deliver and document Individualized Recovery Plans (IRP).
  • Identify and refer individuals to appropriate community supports and resources.
  • Maintain confidential charts with daily progress and incidents.
  • Provide community-based or program site coverage and essential on-site presence.

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) is a statewide not for profit provider agency that partners with individuals, their families, and the surrounding communities to create environments that support long-term health and wellness.

MHC has a full-time opening (Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm) for a Residential Specialist II within our supervised program in the Bridgeport area. This position will be responsible to document and deliver services, including Medicaid reimbursable services, if applicable, to persons in recovery in the activities outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans.

Pay Rate: $20.60 per hour. MHC offers a competitive benefit package which includes:

Requirements

The Residential Specialist II responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals in their residence through proper supervision of assigned program site including being aware of necessary treatment issues.
  • Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Act as a liaison with the individuals' therapists, referral sources, and community agencies. Collaborate and maintain cordial relations with DMHAS and other community agencies.
  • Implement, design, deliver and document Individualized Recovery Plans (IRP's) to adult individuals in recovery experiencing chronic mental health and co-occurring conditions including but not limited to teaching Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills and basic life skills needed to maintain a safe home environment by working directly with persons in recovery in their residences.
  • Identify and refer individuals to appropriate community supports and resources advocating for and supporting individual centered preferences.
  • Develop and maintain confidential charts through accurate and timely documentation of daily progress, behaviors, unusual incidents or emergency events. Communicate immediate concerns with supervisory staff.
  • Provide community based or program site coverage when necessary. May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining entitlements for individuals in recovery.
  • Willing and able to drive a personal vehicle locally and within the state. May be required to transport individuals in personal vehicle.

Education and/or Experience:

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • 2 years of related experience and/or degree in related field, license, certification i.e. Recovery Assistant certificate
  • Prior experience in community mental health preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and registration.
