Job summary

Youth Opportunity is seeking a Residential Shift Supervisor in Cleveland, TN to oversee daily operations and staff during assigned shifts within a trauma-informed residential program for youth. You will ensure safe, structured care and lead staff working directly with youth in our care.

The role emphasizes leadership, staff development, and adherence to state regulations to maintain a secure, therapeutic environment for at‑risk girls in our care.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with youth in a residential setting.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to assess youth with substance abuse, mental health, and trauma history.
Must pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Supervise staff, assign duties, evaluate performance, and provide training and corrective guidance.
Assist with developing staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage for safe and effective facility operations.
Monitor facility security and ensure compliance with state regulations and agency policies.
Oversee youth behavior management, review incidents, and investigate grievances.
Supervise medication administration and ensure accurate documentation.
Assist with youth appointments, transports, and intake/discharge procedures.
Communicate regularly with leadership regarding staffing, safety, and operational concerns.
Conduct security checks, monitor electronic systems, and oversee room searches as needed.
Provide emergency response coordination during incidents such as fire or severe weather.
Document shift events, staffing updates, and incidents according to policy.

Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at‑risk youth. Cleveland Youth Academy in Cleveland, Tennessee is a 15‑bed Youth Academy providing trauma‑informed residential care for girls ages12 to17. Serving young women in need of intensive mental health services, the center combines clinical therapy, recreation, art, music, and educational support in a structured, supportive environment.

Youth typically remain in care for 3 to 6months, participating in individual, family, and group therapy, life skills training, victim‑impact awareness, restorative justice programming, and pre‑vocational preparation. Programming is delivered 24/7 in small group living units to support emotional stabilization, family engagement, and successful transition back into the community.

We are hiring a Residential Shift Supervisor to oversee daily operations and staff during assigned shifts. Residential Shift Supervisor Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Physical Demands

Must be physically healthy and emotionally stable. Ability to engage with youth, participate in activities, and intervene physically if needed. Must be free from communicable diseases as defined by the state. Ability to pass evaluations for physical techniques and written certification exam.
