Job summary

Community Alliance Rehabilitation Services seeks a Residential Rehabilitation Specialist I to support individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders. You will work in a residential setting as part of a collaborative team, delivering direct and collateral services, including teaching and coaching to promote skill development and personal recovery.

The role requires adapting plans to individual goals, facilitating group activities, and coordinating with health and behavioral health

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in mental health rehabilitation and recovery principles.
  • Service delivery and behavior intervention/management practices on a direct service level.

Responsibilities

  • Positively assess individual mental health, co-occurring disorders, and functional strengths and needs.
  • Develop and implement plans for goal achievement and evaluate progress.
  • Plan and participate in group social-recreational activities as part of the rehabilitative program.
  • Provide training to persons served in planning and preparation of nutritious meals.
  • Assist with utilization of primary health services and wellness activities.
  • Identify and help obtain community resources including social, behavioral health, vocational, and recreation services.

An individualemployed in this positionworks in a residential setting as a member of a collaborative team, and is responsiblefor the provision of direct and collateral services, including group and individualteaching and coaching, which promotes skill developmentand personal recoveryfor persons with serious mental illness and co-occurring mental illness and substanceuse disorders.

Duties Include:
  • Positively assess individual mental health, co-occurring disorders, and functional strengths and needs.
  • Develop and implement plans for goal achievement and evaluate short-term and long-term progress on a regular and continuous basis in accordance with program policies and standards.
  • In collaboration with persons served regularly plan and participate in group social-recreational activities as part of the rehabilitative program and process.
  • Regularly plan with and provide training to persons served in planning and preparation of nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Actively assist persons served in utilizing primary health services, including preventative care and annual physicals, and encourage participation in health and wellness activities.
  • Assist persons served in identification, acquisition, utilization, and maintenance of appropriate community resources including social, behavioral health, vocational, and recreation services.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human service-related field, or two years post-high school course work in a human services field plus two years relevant experience/training of a professional nature.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in mental health rehabilitation and recovery principles, service delivery, and behavior intervention/management practices on a direct service level.
  • Basic knowledge of characteristics and needs of persons with serious mental illness, including persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds, persons with serious mental illness and co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders, family members, behavioral health professionals, government representatives, and the public at large.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks in areas of responsibility with moderate supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to work varied shifts and schedules, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays as assigned.
  • Possession of valid driver's license and good driving record, or ability to arrange for reliable transportation.
