Job summary

American National Bank & Trust seeks a Mortgage Loan Officer to originate residential loans by building relationships with borrowers, real estate professionals, and referral partners. You will interview applicants, assess financing needs, and guide them through application to closing, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and bank policies.

You will maintain knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and other investor programs, manage the loan pipeline, and collaborate with processors,

Qualifications

• Residential mortgage lending principles, investor requirements, and regulatory awareness.
• Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, portfolio programs knowledge.
• Familiarity with federal mortgage lending regulations and consumer protection laws.
• Strong sales, relationship-building and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with borrowers, realtors and partners.
• Ability to manage multiple loan files and meet deadlines.
• Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency with mortgage origination software and MS Office tools.
• NMLS registration eligibility and compliance steps including background checks.
• Valid driver’s license and regular local travel required.

Responsibilities

• Develops new residential mortgage business through networking and referrals.
• Interview borrowers to assess financing needs and propose products.
• Completes mortgage loan applications and collects supporting docs.
• Reviews borrower financials to determine eligibility and solutions.
• Keeps up-to-date on mortgage programs and investor guidelines.
• Coordinates the loan process with processors, underwriters and closers.
• Tracks pipelines and communicates loan status to stakeholders.
• Makes lending recommendations within delegated authority.
