Job summary

Mental Health America of South Central Kansas is seeking a Residential Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) to maintain a safe, sanitary and supportive living environment in our residential facilities. You will use Housing First, harm reduction, and trauma-informed approaches to support residents toward independent living and recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus one-year post-high school education or equivalent experience in the human services field.
• Preferred: experience with SPMI population and/or dually diagnosed population.
• Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Valid annual TB test or as required by program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment in Residential Care facilities and complete safety drills as assigned.
• Provide orientation/intake to new residents and complete required paperwork per policies.
• Offer motivation and instruction to promote independent living, recovery, and employment goals.
• Support residents with medication management and transportation to appointments and activities.
• Collaborate with Team Leads, Housing Case Managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate care.
• Document service provision promptly in electronic records (within 24 hours where applicable).
• Assist with meals, meal planning, and daily household tasks; provide coverage during absences.
