Job summary

Sunrise Community of Iowa, Inc. is seeking a dedicated professional to provide support and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, enabling them to live valued lives in the community.

The role emphasizes safety, training, and positive, person-centered planning within a caring team. The position requires a valid driver's license, basic computer skills, and a HS diploma or equivalent, with supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with all necessary endorsements.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in human services preferred.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
  • Ensures health, safety and well-being of individuals are protected at all times.
  • Supervises and maintains a positive team of well-trained employees who provide support and oversight.
  • Provides training and feedback to employees through positive interactions and mentoring.
  • Ensures implementation of therapy, training and behavior programs and data collection.
  • Ensures the home offers choice and creative activities within a positive environment.
  • Monitors ongoing compliance with agency directives and policies.
  • Ensures all homes and vehicles are well maintained and organized.
  • Communicates effectively in English regarding medical care, supports, and services.

Purpose: To provide support, assistance and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enable them to live valued lives in the community by creating an positive home environment.

Qualifications
  • Must successfully complete the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with all necessary endorsements and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience working in the human service field preferred
  • At least one year of supervisory experience preferred
Essential Functions
  • Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights
  • Ensures that the health, safety and well-being of the individuals are protected at all times
  • Supervises and maintains a positive team of well-trained employees who provide support, direction and oversight to the interactions of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Provides training and constructive feedback to employees through positive interactions, role modeling, and mentoring
  • Ensures implementation of therapy, training and behavior programs and data collection required by the individuals’ plans and regulatory agencies
  • Ensures that the home offers choice and creative activities within a positive innovative person directed environment
  • Monitors for ongoing compliance with agency directives, licensing standards and policies and procedures
  • Ensures all homes, outside areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized
  • Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required as this job entails direct care of adults and children receiving services.
  • Employees are required to communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and others regarding medical care, supports, and services.
  • This requirement includes the ability to effectively communicate in English including medical terminology.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Salary: $53,000 SR69IW

This position will remain open until filled.
