Job summary

Monkey Wrench Plumbing, Heating, Air & Electric is seeking an HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, service, and maintain residential HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and high customer satisfaction within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, performing electrical and refrigerant work, and coordinating with electricians and planners to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience diagnosing, servicing, or maintaining HVAC systems in residential settings.
• Working knowledge of HVAC system components such as compressors, motors, fans, coils, and controls.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with safety standards, HVAC codes, and proper handling of refrigerants, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
• Proficient with basic hand tools and diagnostic instruments.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Physically able to perform job duties including lifting, working in attics/crawl spaces, and standing long periods.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair residential HVAC systems per manufacturer specs and local codes.
• Review blueprints and schematics to determine layout and installation requirements.
• Perform electrical, refrigerant, and gas line connections with proper safety measures.
• Conduct system testing to identify leaks, measure pressure, and verify performance.
• Collaborate with electricians, plumbers, and coordinators for project execution.
• Educate homeowners on system operation and energy-saving practices.
• Document work performed and communicate clearly with customers.
• Uphold safety protocols and PPE usage on every site.
• Maintain a clean, organized job site and service vehicle.
