Russell's American Mechanical is seeking a Residential HVAC Install Apprentice in Chesapeake, VA to learn on real residential projects. You will be guided by experienced technicians while assisting with furnace, air conditioner, and ductwork installations, and supporting system startups.

No HVAC experience is required; a great attitude, reliable work ethic, and willingness to learn will get you started. Paid training, safety focus, and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of residential HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
• Learn measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing ductwork and piping.
• Support startups, testing, and quality checks under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Follow safety standards, policies, and best practices.
• Interact professionally with homeowners and teammates.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to grow HVAC knowledge and skills.

What You’ll Do

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry 50+ pounds regularly
• Work comfortably in attics, crawl spaces, and other confined areas
• Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and move throughout the workday
• Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

Bonus Points If You Have

• HVAC trade school coursework or certification
• Experience using hand and power tools
• EPA 608 Certification or willingness to obtain it
