Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Worker to keep buildings in top shape in Richmond Hill, Queens. You will perform repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry, respond to tickets, and coordinate with licensed professionals on larger projects.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work independently while following safety guidelines. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of hands-on maintenance or trade experience.
• Ability to handle common plumbing issues like clogs and fixture replacements.
• Comfort with simple electrical tasks like changing switches and outlets.
• Experience with basic carpentry, drywall patching, and door/lock installation.
• Able to monitor HVAC systems and troubleshoot thermostat issues.
• Good problem‑solving skills and able to work independently.
• Must follow safety and confidentiality guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Complete everyday building repairs, including drywall patching, flooring, doors and locks.
• Handle basic plumbing tasks such as replacing fixtures and unclogs.
• Do light carpentry like hanging sheetrock and repair of drop ceilings.
• Perform basic electrical work and coordinate with licensed electricians for larger repairs.
• Monitor HVAC systems, change filters, troubleshoot thermostats.
• Respond to maintenance tickets and escalate when needed.
• Assist licensed electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs and contractors on larger projects.
• Keep tools, supplies, and work areas clean and organized.
• Assist with snow removal and seasonal tasks.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning facility for staff and clients.
