Job summary

BRC - Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs across residential and program spaces. You will help keep building systems, offices, and common areas safe, clean, and functional while supporting resident comfort and program operations.

Qualifications

• One year or more of facilities maintenance or related experience.
• Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repair work.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot facility issues and complete repairs independently.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair work orders.
• Inspect HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, and building infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform repairs to minimize disruptions.
• Maintain tools and work areas in safe condition.
• Support room turnovers, move-ins/outs, and improvement projects.
• Assist with furniture moves and space reconfigurations.
• Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and building codes.
• Document inspections, service requests, and completed work in CMMS.
