Resource Innovations is seeking a Residential Energy Auditor to join our metro Arizona team. You will perform in-home energy audits, focusing on income-based program participants, and oversee QA/QC for our HEAR program.

Role requires building science knowledge, strong communication, and experience with BPI standards. You will collaborate with contractor networks and cross-functional teams to deliver energy solutions that improve community energy efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; degree preferred in energy, construction or related field.
  • 2+ years in field services/quality control or energy efficiency preferred.
  • Current BPI Building Analyst Certification or willingness to obtain in 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site residential energy audits, including HVAC, insulation, and building envelope.
  • Use diagnostic tools (blower door, combustion analyzers, infrared cameras) to assess energy performance.
  • Collect and analyze utility data and building specs.
  • Input data into software and prioritize energy-saving recommendations.
  • Educate homeowners about energy-saving opportunities and rebates.
  • Conduct post-installation inspections to verify upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with program standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with contractors, utility reps, and program managers.
  • Maintain records and submit documentation timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Resource Innovations is seeking a Residential Energy Auditor to join our growing team in metro Arizona area to support our Inflation Reduction Act Program field delivery. As an early key hire in this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality in-home energy audits and ensuring quality control for our HEAR program. You are a customer-focused technician proficient in BPI standards and related certifications who will be conducting comprehensive in-home energy audits with a focus on income-based program participants and collaboration with contractor networks. Your oversight will extend to residential weatherization, HVAC, and water heating installation inspections, as you review QA/QC findings to ensure program integrity. Working with partners to identify and implement effective solutions based on audit findings and client feedback will be key to your success. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Resource Innovations’ program solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in energy auditing, building science, or related fields, along with established relationships within housing, rebate/incentive programs, and community development. Strong leadership skills, a focus on team building and customer service, and knowledge of relevant standards and practices, particularly BPI certifications, are essential. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site residential energy audits, including HVAC systems, insulation, windows, lighting, appliances, and building envelope.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as blower doors, combustion analyzers, and infrared cameras to assess air leakage and energy performance.
  • Collect and analyze utility data, homeowner usage patterns, and building specifications.
  • Utilize provided software tools to input all above data and prioritize recommendations for energy-saving improvements.
  • Educate homeowners and residents about energy-saving opportunities, rebates, and best practices.
  • Perform post-installation inspections to verify completion and effectiveness of energy upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with contractors, utility representatives, and program managers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit documentation in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be located in Metro Arizona.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in energy, construction, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a field services/quality control and quality assurance role, or consulting, energy efficiency or utility experience highly desired
  • Must hold a current BPI Building Analyst Certification (BPI BA) or willing to obtain within 30 days of acceptance.
  • Knowledge of building science, construction and technical expertise is required
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • HERS and RESNET Rater certification preferred
  • Ability to travel 25% to 75% of the time (limited overnight travel)
  • Experience with SnuggPro a plus
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position. The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health, dental and vision insurance; and other supplemental benefits.
