General Job Description Position Overview

The Resdiential Electric Technician is an experienced residential electrician responsible for performing electrical installation, service, troubleshooting, and repair work while providing leadership and technical guidance to residential rough-in crews. This role helps train and develop less experienced electricians, leads rough electrical installations, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable electrical codes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and support residential electrical rough-in crews to ensure installations are completed safely, accurately, and according to project schedules.
  • Perform advanced residential electrical installation, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
  • Train, mentor, and provide hands‑on guidance to electricians and less experienced crew members on residential rough-in methods, installation standards, safety practices, and electrical code requirements.
  • Review project plans, specifications, layouts, and work orders to coordinate rough-in activities and ensure accurate job completion.
  • Inspect and verify electrical rough-in work for quality, code compliance, and adherence to company installation standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical installation and service issues in residential environments.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed to maintain crew productivity and meet project schedules.
  • Communicate with supervisors, project management, builders, employees, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades regarding project requirements and field activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Monitor job site conditions, materials, tools, and equipment to support operational efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to electrical installations and project activities.
  • Serve as a technical resource for crew members and assist with resolving field installation concerns.
  • Maintain professionalism and effective communication throughout all project and operational interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Specific Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems, rough-in installation methods, equipment, materials, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, mentor, and develop residential electrical crews.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee electrical rough-in activities while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Strong understanding of residential electrical construction practices and applicable electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical plans, schematics, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Proficiency in using electrical tools, testing equipment, and related systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve field issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and crew needs in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field personnel, supervisors, project management, and other departments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and provide direction to crew members under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and electrical codes.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, builders, and business partners.
Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous hands-on residential electrical experience required, with strong experience performing residential rough-in installations.

Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring residential electrical installers or rough-in crews strongly preferred.

Experience within residential new construction environments strongly preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of residential electrical installation methods, materials, equipment, and applicable electrical codes.

Relevant electrical certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.

Physical Requirements

Communicate in person, by phone, and through email.

Travel as required to support project and operational needs.

Stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.

Sit for extended periods while driving to and between job sites.

Work on active residential construction sites, indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, and confined or elevated spaces, with exposure to varying weather, construction noise, dust, and other job site conditions.

Wear safety gear such as Personal Protective Equipment.

Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet project and operational needs.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.

Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.

Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.

Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or work authorization support. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship.
