What does a DSP Residential Team Lead do?
As a Residential DSP Team Lead, you will provide direct support to adults with an intellectual and/or developmental disability while also providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). You promote emotional, physical, and personal well-being while ensuring health, safety, compliance, and person-centered service delivery.
In this leadership and caregiver role, you will:
- Assist individuals in the development of appropriate life skills necessary to reach their highest level of potential including interaction with others, cooking, housekeeping, money management, personal hygiene, etc.
- Assisting with toileting, showering, and other ADLs.
- Support individuals’ preferences and ensure their interests, dignity, and rights are honored.
- Actively seek opportunities for individuals to experience life in their homes and communities based on their hobbies and interests.
- Help individuals reach independence goals by offering prompting, guidance, instruction, education, and role modeling.
- Encourage engagement in social networks and community activities.
- Provide on-shift leadership and guidance to DSPs, model professional behavior and compliance expectations, follow up on assigned responsibilities, and report performance or compliance concerns to the Residential Assistant Director.
- Assist with scheduling, tracking, and follow-up of medical appointments and aftercare instructions.
- Shop for groceries and prepare meals that meet specific dietary needs.
- Use creative thinking and accommodations to increase independence and safety.
- Complete and oversee daily documentation including goal progress, behavior data, environment, shift duty sheets, and summaries in compliance with MAS policy and ODP standards.
- Participate in monthly DSP Team Lead meetings and required trainings.
- Organize and provide transportation to and from appointments and community outings.
- Provide caregiving and support with activities of daily living including hygiene, cleaning, shopping, driving, prompting, documentation, budgeting, reporting, use of technology, mobility assistance, and wound care. Provide medication administration and related documentation only in accordance with required training, certification, agency policy, and applicable regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong computer and technical skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of EVV, Therap, and ADP preferred.
Residential Team Lead Education and Training Requirements
Qualifications:
- 18 years or older.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- NADD/NADSP credential or certification required, as applicable to the position.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Five (5) years of previous DSP experience preferred.
- Completion of all required background checks per state regulations.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to transport individuals in personal or agency vehicles as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and cover open shifts.
Physical/Mental Demands
- All shifts are awake shifts.
- Ability to sit, stand, squat, bend, pivot, and climb stairs (3+ floors).
- Ability to walk continuously for 30+ minutes.
- Ability to lift objects over 30 pounds.
- Ability to assist individuals with mobility and weight-bearing.
- Tolerance for exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to perform CPR.
